Job Summary: The Certified Community Behavioral Health Center (CCBHC) Peer Support Specialist will provide collaborative care; conduct outreach; provide transportation, assist in system linkages, adhere to SAMHSA peer support core competencies, and assist with recovery housing; assist GPRA/NOMS follow-up interviews (6-months post-intake) and at discharge. The CCBHC Peer Support Specialist will provide optimal care through the facilitation of access to care, trauma-informed patient-centered family-centeredness, cultural competency, and qualified providers. The Peer Specialist will perform a wide range of tasks to assist peers of all ages with responsibilities including but not limited to serving as role models to peers, helping other consumers with skill building, goal setting, problem-solving, and finding resources. Reports to the CCBHC Program Coordinator. This is a grant-funded position.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Must be a current or former consumer; or first-degree family member of an individual who has received treatment for and self-identifies as a consumer or former mental health consumer. Must have demonstrated a minimum of six (6) months, preferably twelve (12) months, in self-directed recovery. Must successfully pass the Certified Peer Support Specialist after completion of DMH Certified Peer Support Specialist training. Good communication skills are necessary. Must have a valid driver’s license in Mississippi and proof of auto insurance. This position has been determined to have an occasional or very low risk of occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
