Job Summary: The Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) Alcohol & Drug Abuse Therapist will be responsible for SUD/COD service coordination for adults, children/adolescents served by the CMHC Grant Program, will provide early intervention services, outpatient therapy, intensive outpatient therapy, mental health assessment, evaluations, and clinical guidance; deliver EBPs; make in-house referrals for MAT and medication evaluation for co-occurring disorders; attend court proceedings, involving youth court/youth drug court and drug court; and help with transportation. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, crisis intervention, acute psychiatric therapy, coordination of consumer referral, and provision of planned education/growth experiences.  This position reports to the CMHC Program Coordinator.  This is a grant funded position.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Chemical Abuse Treatment or a related field required. Experience as a clinician in a mental health setting or substance abuse treatment facility is preferred. Must be licensed or certified as a mental health professional.  A Provisional Mental Health Certification (PCMHT) or Provisional Certification as an Addiction Therapist (PCAT) through the Department of Mental Health must be acquired and documentation presented to Human Resources within 90 days from hire date. Completion of full certification must be obtained with two (2) years from provisional issue date.  Employee must demonstrate ability to recognize adult consumers’ individual needs based on medical conditions, age (young adults, middle age and geriatric) limitations and planned procedures. Good communication skills are necessary.  Must have valid driver’s license in Mississippi and maintain proof of auto insurance. This position has been determined to have an occasional or very low risk of occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
