Job Summary: The Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) Crisis Community Support Specialist will assist the Mobile Community Emergency Response Team (MCERT) and individuals discharged from the Crisis Stabilization Unit to ensure/ provide peer-led recovery support services, and wraparound care coordination for SMI adults in crisis and SED adolescents in crisis. The Crisis Community Support Specialist will restore referral pathways for individuals served by the CMHC Grant Program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supporting, developing and/or applying the treatment/service plan and facilitating compliance. Works in collaboration with a physician, Crisis Peer Support Specialist and Crisis Therapist to assess the needs of the individual in crisis and to implement a plan of care. Serves as a member of appropriate interdisciplinary treatment team. Reports to CMHC Program Coordinator.  This is a grant funded position.

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or a related field required; previous experience in a mental health setting preferred.  A Provisional Certification through the Department of Mental Health (PCCSS) must be acquired and documentation presented to Human Resources within 90 days from hire date. Completion of full certification must be obtained with two (2) years from provisional issue date.   Employee must demonstrate ability to recognize consumers’ individual needs based on medical conditions, age (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged and geriatric), limitations and planned procedures. Good communication skills are necessary. Must have valid driver’s license in Mississippi and proof of auto insurance. This position has been determined to have an occasional or very low risk of occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
