Hinds Behavioral Health Services’ Ruth Wilson Children and Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) provides youth a community-based safe, structured, child-friendly, and supportive space to address mental health needs.
Job Summary: Answers incoming calls and refers calls to appropriate staff. Provide phone screening of children and youth calls to determine which program is needed or referral to other services. Obtain prior authorizations and submit any documentation needed. Provide weekly tracking report. Reports to the Coordinator, C&Y Crisis Stabilization Unit.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor degree preferred. Prior training or experience in a mental health setting preferred. Skills needed include answering telephones, maintaining filing systems and logs, scheduling appointments; proficiency in use of Microsoft office package. Employee must demonstrate ability to recognize consumers’ individual needs based on medical conditions, age (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged and geriatric), limitations and planned procedures. This position has been determined to have an occasional or very low risk of occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Occasional prolonged standing and walking; lifts and moves supplies and equipment; mostly sedentary work.
