Job Summary
This position serves as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team for the Minority AIDS Initiative: Substance Use Disorder treatment for Racial/Ethnic Minority Populations at High Risk for HIV/AIDS project. The Recovery Support Specialist’s primary responsibilities are to provide one-on-one peer recovery support, case management, and assist team in coordinating referrals and HIV navigation services linked to; engagement in PREP/PEP, linkages to housing/ wraparound services; HIV/VH/STI screening, testing and pre/post-test counseling education. This position will provide whole-person care coordination across medical, behavioral, and social service community systems.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Must be a current or former consumer, or first-degree family member of an individual who has received treatment for and self-identifies as a consumer or former mental health consumer. Must demonstrate a minimum of six (6) months in self-directed recovery within the last year. Must attend and successfully pass the Certified Peer Support Specialist training. Good communication skills are necessary. Must have valid Mississippi driver’s license and maintain proof of auto insurance.
An ideal candidate possesses exceptional interpersonal, leadership, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. Candidates with strong self-motivation qualities and demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and general office skills preferred.
