Hinds Behavioral Health Services psychiatrists, nursing staff, therapists, case managers and support staff provide many Outpatient Mental Health services to adults and seniors.

Outpatient Mental Health Services

During your first appointment you will be asked to bring:

  • An Insurance Card
  • A Photo ID
  • Any Current Medications
  • Current Hospital Records (if needed)

*If you do not have a photo ID you will need to show proof of residence (mortgage/rent/lease agreement or a utility bill in your name), social security number, and date of birth.

Mobile Crisis Response

Mobile Crisis is available 24/7, nights, holidays, and weekends.


Outpatient Therapy

The mental health therapists at Hinds Behavioral Health Services provide outpatient therapy and counseling to adults and seniors with mental health issues including:

You do not need a diagnosis to visit with a therapist. Our treatment team will provide an intake assessment prior to your first appointment to help guide you to an appropriate therapist. We provide individual, group and family therapy at our main office Monday through Friday and by special appointment on Saturday. In an effort to offer the best service possible therapy sessions take thirty minutes to one hour.

Fury Fighters Group
Every Thursday
3:00 PM

Anger Management is a 10-week program created to help improve interpersonal skills. The Fury Fighter group is open to clients of Hinds Behavioral Health Services who are age 18 and older.

Alcoholics Anonymous
Footprints Group
Every Tuesday
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

Footprints Alcoholics Anonymous is a support group for individuals who are seeking help for a drinking problem.

Pathways To Recovery
Every Friday
1:30 PM

Pathways To Recovery is a peer support group focused on the various pathways to recovery. The group is open to any registered client of Hinds Behavioral Health Services.

AOT Family Advisory Committee
Every 3rd Tuesday
2:30 PM – 3:30 PM

The AOT Family Advisory Committee is a family support group that focuses on mental health and the resources available for well-being and recovery. The group is open to any family members and clients of Hinds Behavioral Health Services.

Seeking Safety
Every Thursday
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Seeking Safety is a support group that addresses both trauma and substance use. The group focuses on building coping skills and helping individuals attain safety in their relationships, thinking, behavior, and emotions. Seeking Safety is available to any registered client of Hinds Behavioral Health Services.

Trauma Recovery
Every Wednesday
2:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Trauma Recovery is an 8-week group for registered clients of Hinds Behavioral Health Services who have experienced trauma. Individuals will learn how trauma impacts the brain, body, and behaviors. Evidence-based interventions will be taught to promote healing and positive coping.

*A Sexual Assault Trauma Recovery group is also available. (Please speak with an HBHS Case Manager or Therapist for a group referral.)

Relapse Prevention is an alcohol and drug prevention support group for adults who are clients of Hinds Behavioral Health Services. We can help you find support to remain sober and learn how to live a healthy and sober life.

Tobacco Cessation

Tobacco Cessation is a free support group for individuals who have or want to quit smoking.

NAMI Connection
Biweekly, Thursday
5:30 PM – 7:30 PM

NAMI Connection is a free peer-to-peer recovery support group for adults with a mental illness regardless of diagnosis. (*NAMI Connection currently meets weekly, Thursdays from 1:30-3 PM at Cups in the Quarter, 1855 Lakeland Drive, Jackson, MS. NAMI Connection also meets biweekly, Thursdays from 5:30-7:30 PM at Hinds Behavioral Health Services.)

NAMI Peer-to-Peer
Every Monday
5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

NAMI Peer-to-Peer is a free 10-session course for adults living with mental health challenges. The educational program focuses on respect, recovery, and hope. All attendees must pre-register. Contact Monica Wolters, 601-899-9058.

Parenting Class
Every Wednesday
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Hinds Behavioral Health Services offers a 6-week Parenting Course with certification upon completion for any Hinds Behavioral Health Services client with an open case. Course topics include discipline techniques, roles in the family unit, conflict resolution, developmental stages, and healthy relationships.
