Job Summary:
The Court Liaison will serve individuals who interact with the court system and law enforcement involuntarily by providing access to services that can prevent unnecessary institutionalization. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining relationships with Chancery Courts and law enforcement agencies, increasing knowledge and utilization of community-based services, and collaborating with individuals, families, court personnel, and the State Hospital Forensic Unit. Reports to Coordinator of Adult Services.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or a related field required with experience in the criminal justice field preferred. If not currently licensed or credentialed as a Mental Health Therapist, a Provisional Certification through the Department of Mental Health (PCMHT) must be acquired and documentation presented to Human Resources within 90 days from hire date and (CMHT) must be obtained within to 2 years from the date of issuance. Employee must demonstrate ability to recognize consumers’ individual needs based on medical conditions, age, limitations and planned procedures. Good communication skills are necessary. Must have valid driver’s license in Mississippi and proof of auto insurance. This position has been determined to have an occasional or very low risk of occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
