Job Summary: Functions as a Psychiatric Technician/ Mental Health Worker for individuals who are experiencing a period of acute psychiatric distress and are assigned to the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting individuals with daily care and support; assisting the nursing staff with providing medication; and intervening in crisis situations. The DCW works closely with all other clinical staff (Activity therapists, Social Workers, Nurses) to conduct various processes and specialty groups within the program.
Qualifications: Job Qualifications: High school graduate and 2 years of experience in a psychiatric or inpatient, residential, group home setting, any institutional setting/facility determined to be acceptable by the agency or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college. Employee must demonstrate ability to recognize patients’ individual needs based on medical conditions, age (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged and geriatric), limitations and planned procedures. Good communication skills are necessary. This position has been determined to have an occasional or very low risk of occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
