Job Summary: Mental Health Therapist position available at our twelve (12) bed, 24/7 Children & Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit! The Mental Health Therapist will provide mental health assessments, evaluations and counseling for consumers and families of consumers who are assigned to the Children & Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit (C&Y CSU). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, crisis intervention, acute psychiatric therapy, coordination of our consumer referral and provision of planned education/growth experiences. Reports to Coordinator of Children & Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or a related field and experience as a clinician. Must be licensed or certified as a mental health professional. A Provisional Certification through the MS Department of Mental Health (PCMHT) must be acquired and documentation presented to Human Resources within 30 days from hire date and (CMHT) must be obtained within to two (2) years from the date of issuance. Requires flexibility regarding working conditions and assignments, good oral and written communication skills and thorough knowledge of psychiatric disorders and corresponding treatment. Employee must demonstrate ability to recognize consumers’ individual needs based on medical conditions, age (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged and geriatric), limitations and planned procedures. Must have valid driver’s license in Mississippi and proof of auto insurance. This position has been determined to have an occasional or very low risk of occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
