Community Mental Health Center Program
Hinds Behavioral Health Services Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) program provides outpatient mental health and substance use disorder services to economically disadvantaged individuals living with serious emotional disturbance, serious mental illness, or substance use disorders. CMHC therapists, case managers, peer support specialists, psychiatric nurse practitioner, nurse, and other support staff provide treatment for mental health conditions brought on or made worse by the pandemic.
Eligibility
- Economically disadvantaged children & adults living with serious emotional disturbance, serious mental illness, or substance use disorders

- Access to mental health and medical care
- 24-hour mental health crisis and emergency response
- Therapy, case management services, and peer support
- Alcohol and drug use disorder services
- Mental health disparity education and outreach
- Treatment for individuals experiencing homelessness
- Support for individuals in the criminal justice system
Goals
- Improve access to treatment and early intervention of mental health conditions
- Increase the availability and access to medications
- Connect individuals in need to crisis services and other resources
