The Mental Health Therapist will provide mental health assessments, evaluations and counseling for consumers and families of consumers who are assigned to the Children & Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit (C&Y CSU). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, crisis intervention, acute psychiatric therapy, coordination of our consumer referral and provision of planned education/growth experiences. Reports to Coordinator of Children & Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit. Qualifications:  Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or a related field and experience as a clinician.  Must be licensed or certified as a mental health professional.  A Provisional Certification through the MS Department of Mental Health (PCMHT) must be acquired and documentation presented to Human Resources within 30 days from hire date and (CMHT) must be obtained within to two (2) years from the date of issuance.  Requires flexibility regarding working conditions and assignments, good oral and written communication skills and thorough knowledge of psychiatric disorders and corresponding treatment.  Employee must demonstrate ability to recognize consumers’ individual needs based on medical conditions, age (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged and geriatric), limitations and planned procedures. Job Summary:  The Mobile Crisis Team Leader provides clinical oversight, coordination, and supervision for the Crisis Response Team. This position supports crisis assessment, safety planning, intervention, and rapid response for individuals experiencing behavioral health crises. The Team Leader ensures that service delivery meets the operational standards of the Mississippi Department of Mental Health (DMH), CARF requirements, and HBHS policies and procedures. Responsibilities include staff supervision, training, program monitoring, interagency coordination, and participation in the on-call rotation as needed. The Team Leader promotes the mission, values, and philosophy of Hinds Behavioral Health Services in all crisis operations and community interactions. Essential Functions
  • Supports the delivery of crisis assessment, intervention, de-escalation, and safety planning for individuals experiencing behavioral health emergencies.
  • Provides clinical supervision, guidance, and coaching to Crisis Response Team staff in accordance with DMH and HBHS standards.
  • Participates in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule to provide consultation and support to crisis staff as needed.
  • Coordinates with community partners—including hospitals, law enforcement, EMS, and social service agencies—to support effective crisis stabilization and care transitions.
  • Reviews and monitors program reports, service trends, and required statistical data for administrative and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field required, along with three years of experience in a mental health services delivery setting and at least one year of supervisory experience. Must possess a mental health license or certification, or be eligible for such.  LMSW or LPC preferred.  If without a current license, a Provisional Certification through the Department of Mental Health (PCMHT) must be acquired and documentation presented to Human Resources within 90 days from hire date and CMHT must be obtained within 2 years for the date of hire.
